Discover Snowdonia
Confirmed today as the latest event to Wow visitors and adventurers in Betws-y-Coed – ‘Discover Snowdonia’ is hosting an outdoor taster adventure event on Monday 27th May 2013.
Running all day on Cae Llan in Betws-y-Coed and Glasdir in LLanrwst also various other venues in Snowdonia, local activity providers have merged to showcase their wares and divulge what secret Snowdonia has to offer. From a conversation held between two friends talking about kayaking in France an idea grew to hold our very own adventure festival right here in the heart of Snowdonia.
That conversation has stemmed a partnership being formed by a group of local outdoor activity providers to promote the fact that Snowdonia has a such diverse range of outdoor opportunities with world-class instructors providing a host of activities at the highest level, making it a world-leader in adventure activities.
From abseiling to cave exploration to kayaking and wild swimming, some of the mini taster experiences will be available for all to try on the day. Enter the Grand Draw and you could win a half day adventure for two!
Alongside the action will be gentler ventures – opening up a new world, discover what to eat for free with foraging and bushcraft skill demonstrations, low level guided walks with panoramic photo opportunities, a dusk time meander through tree lined avenues to spot bats sweeping in across the twighlight sky.
For those who fancy testing their navigational skills there’s a geocache treasure hunt being played on the day or for the competitive mind try your skills at tent assembly all against the clock – with great prizes available and a whole heap of laughter!
Ogwen Mountain Valley Rescue team will be also be on hand to demonstrate their incredible skills and inform and educate the uninitiated to mountain-lore.
On Cae Llan itself watch rip roaring tricks on the Mountain Bike Skills Track and when you’ve watched enough get on your bike and have a go!
Dare devil in you? Then climb the pole and launch yourself down the zip-line to fly through the air with the greatest of ease!
