We’ve done the hard work so you don’t have to. Armed with spoons and an impressive appetite, we set out on a mission to discover North Wales’ finest ice cream. It wasn’t easy…but someone had to do it.
The hardest part? Choosing just one flavour…
🍒 Glaslyn Artisan Ice Cream – Beddgelert
Perfect after: A stroll along the Fisherman’s Path to Gelert’s Grave.
Award-winning artisan gelato crafted using traditional Italian methods and fresh Welsh milk. Tucked away in beautiful Beddgelert, it’s the ideal reward after exploring Eryri’s second prettiest village (the first being Betws -y-Coed ….of course)

🍨 Cadwaladers – Betws-y-Coed
Perfect after: Exploring the village and it’s boutique shopping or wandering the Gwydir Forest trails.
A Welsh institution since 1927, Cadwaladers began in Criccieth and has become famous for its traditional, secret-recipe vanilla ice cream. Sometimes the classics really are the best.

🍫Georgio’s – Llanberis
Perfect after: Watersports on Llyn Padarn or conquering Yr Wyddfa (by tarin or on foot)
Authentic Italian-style gelato just a stone’s throw from the lake, making it the perfect post-adventure treat. We couldn’t agree on the best flavour here…

🌰 Cariad Gelato – Porthmadog
Perfect after: A stroll around the harbour or treat after a steam train journey through Eryri’s stunning scenery on the Welsh Highalnd or Ffestining Railways.
Small-batch artisan gelato served from its iconic kiosk, with inventive flavours made using quality local ingredients. If you’re heading to Criccieth, keep an eye out for their charming Piaggio van on the seafront too.

🇮🇹 Red Boat Ice Cream Parlour – Beaumaris
Perfect after: Exploring Beaumaris Castle and browsing the Sunday artisan market.
A family-run favourite serving homemade artisan ice cream in the heart of this beautiful seaside town. The perfect excuse to linger a little longer to people watch after your mooching around.

🍮 Parisella’s Kiosk – Conwy Quay
Perfect after: Discovering Conwy Castle and wandering the medieval town walls.
Making ice cream since the 1950s, Parisella’s has become a North Wales institution. Pick up a cone on the quay and enjoy one of the country’s most picturesque waterfronts.
